Friends of HPL Minutes, October 21, 2021

Call to orderWe met downstairs in HPL from 6 to 7 pm. 
Minutesfrom Sep. 16th meeting were read and accepted. 
Financial ReportBalance: $2558.96Jen purchased an air purifier. Mark needs to reimburse her $289, Irene $39 for plants, and Liz $79 for website maintenance.
Librarian’s ReportLorrie has been cleaning, weeding, decorating… For Children’s Book Week Nov. 8-14, there will be handouts with books, activity sheets, crayons, etc. The theme is “Reading is a Superpower.   She wants to mass mail patrons with library news.  See everychildareader.net.  Also, regarding the Summer Reading Program, check out OO-Oceans-of-Possibilities-Full-Manual.pdf   Helen will research the “how to” of this.
PublicityLooking for feedback on Facebook, Helen asked, “What are you reading this month?” and had a few responses.  Liz reports a new “theme” on the website.Check out hartlandpubliclibrary.org as well as the Facebook page.
Book ClubEllie reports that the new meeting time, 6 pm, and space, near the computers, are working well. There may be a Zoom option this winter.Look on Facebook or the website for December’s book title.
Old BusinessThe Book Sale netted $78 and is on-going. Regarding a garden, Irene notes there is room for vegies on the south side of the building.Come select from the many titles and CD’s. Any one available to work in the garden?
New BusinessA day pass covers most of Maine’s parks.Lorrie will research procuring one for parks as well as the Children’s Museum in Bangor.
