Minutes of the May 21, 2020, Meeting of the Friends of HPL
Present: Nick Berry, Kathie Clark, Ellie Davids, Helen Gallagher, Jen Mabee, Liz Vezina
This was a Zoom meeting, begun at 6 pm and ended at 6:40 pm.
Nick informed us of many things: curbside pickup by appointment, Tuesdays and Fridays, as of 6/2. Choice of material can be online or by calling Nick (938-4702). Book returns: please use the drop box. Books, tapes, etc., will be “treated” with a 3-day quarantine before they are again available for check-out. ILL is not yet available. Online Story Hour has the advantage of being shared by many. See HPL’s Facebook page for “Heart of Maine Story Archives,” where one can post COVID19 experiences. Summer Reading Program (SRP) activities will be virtual this year; details to follow next month. Likewise, summer meal details for the children have yet to be worked out. KVCAP is still planning their construction. HPL’s portion is on hold until responses to our grant requests are fulfilled.
Ellie reports that the Book Club met virtually in April. Members will report on books of their choice for May.
Depending on COVID19 regulations, our Yard Sale may take place in the fall.
The Book Box is not yet completed. Nick will contact Tiemer. Our aim was to have the Box installed by 6/6 for Hartland’s Bicentennial parade, which has been postponed indefinitely due to the pandemic.
Next meeting, by Zoom, will be Thursday, June 18, at 6pm. Jen will email reminders.
Kathie Clark, Secretary
