to resolve the discrepancy.

Publicity /School Liaison
Two new trustees were installed at the Trustees meeting on 4/7: Jen Mabee & Sarrah
Fitzmaurice. Congratulations, Jen!

Now is the time to publicize the Plant Sale in detail. Helen & Liz will do their usual
publicity in RTE & on the website. Irene has agreed to do a reproducible-size poster that can be hung in the usual places in Hartland and St. Albans.

School Liaison activity is on hold except for what Helen sends to Ellen Surprenant at
Somerset Elementary for their newsletter. Ellen is very receptive and responsive.

Liz will take the call for volunteers off of the homepage.

Book Group meets monthly via Zoom but hopes to meet in person soon, perhaps on
library lawn. Upcoming books through August including Read ME titles are listed on the
website’s Program page.

Summer Reading Program will include a mix of virtual and outdoor, socially distanced
programs, including one by the Maine Discovery Museum. This year participants will
track the number of minutes spent reading rather than the number of books read. They’ll

earn a chance to enter a drawing for the grand prize (TBD) for each 30 minutes they read.
Everyone who reached their goal will receive a smaller prize, as well. Registration opens at the
beginning of June, the program starts at the end of the month and ends the second
week of August. The theme is “Tails & Tales.”

Old Business

New library: No word yet on HUD grant. Application for $200,000 Gloria C. Mackenzie
Grant was rejected. Biden’s infrastructure bill includes $5 billion for libraries.

Spring Plant Sale: Saturday, 5/22, from 9-11am. People may drop off plant donations at the
library on Friday from 3-5 pm or Saturday from 8-8:30 am. Covid safety protocols will be
followed. It was decided to go with ‘donations only’ to avoid the handling of cash. We have enough volunteers to help on both days, enough folding tables available, and several people providing a quantity of plants. We’ll set out a can for donations sand display a list of suggested amounts for each type of item.

See above for discussion on publicity.

Little Free Library: A couple of us have stopped by to check on the Hartland Little Free Library
this month. It’s looking good! Someone contributed bookmarks, a nice touch.

New Business We don’t usually meet in July or August but will meet in August if we decide to go ahead with a
yard sale in September.

Meeting adjourned at 7:00 pm. Next meeting: Thursday, May 20, 2021, 6:00 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Liz Vezina
