Substitute Librarian
Job Description

Hours: Part time as needed, may require up to 34 hours a week
Salary: $11/hr
Summary of Responsibilities:
Works directly with the public to provide reference, circulation, computer troubleshooting, and other customer service and clerical needs.

Assumes day to day operations for the librarian in case of sickness, vacation, or other work related absences. May be required to open the library at 10 A.M. and/or close the library as late as 6 P.M.

Duties:
Duties may include staffing the circulation desk, answering reference questions, shelving, directing volunteers to perform certain tasks such as shelving or dusting, helping patrons locate items, taking Interlibrary Loan requests, helping patrons with printing or other computer related tasks, copying and faxing or other duties as directed by the Librarian. Substitute may be required to run or assist with programs. Answering the phone and taking messages for the librarian may also be required.

Qualifications Required:
Basic knowledge of computers and Evergreen or another automated library system
Ability to provide friendly customer service
Ability to run a copier/fax machine
Organization skills and knowledge of library organization a plus
Physical requirements: May require you to bend, lift up to fifty pounds, and reach shelves with the aid of a stepladder
